Arsenal outcast closing in on Premier League loan move



Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy is on the verge of joining Premier League strugglers Aston Villa until the end of the season, according to The London Evening Standard.

 

Debuchy, 30, has only started two league games all season and has been pushing for a move away from the Emirates with one eye on Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the European Championship’s in the summer.

 

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reluctant to let the France international leave this month and will insert a recall clause into the move allowing him to call upon Debuchy’s services if a injuries mean his services are required.

The two clubs are yet to agree a loan fee and Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly waiting in the wings and ready to pounce if the deal suddenly collapses.

 

Debuchy’s Arsenal career has grinder to a halt due to injuries and the emergence of Hector Bellerin. As a result, he has only featured in 144 minutes of Premier League action all season, with his last league appearance coming back in November.
