Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso could return to Liverpool, claims the Daily Express.
The former Spain international spent five years at Liverpool before moving to Real Madrid in 2009 and is now into the final year of his contract with Bayern.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could be tempted to try and persuade the 33-year-old to return to Anfield, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting Bayern will now offer the veteran a new contract.
Despite the uncertainty regarding his future, Alonso is still a mainstay in the Bayern side and is averaging more passes per game than any other player in the Bundesliga this season (88.5 passes per game).
