Former Liverpool target lands on Chelsea’s radar

Chelsea are weighing up a blockbuster January move for Lyon captain and former Liverpool target Nabil Fekir, reports The Daily Mail.

Maurizio Sarri wants to bolster his offensive options next month and Chelsea have already been heavily linked with moves for AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain and Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic.

Fekir is another target being considered by Chelsea ahead of the January transfer window and Lyon have not ruled out his potential departure.

Lyon agreed a fee with Liverpool for Fekir worth in excess of £50m in the summer but the deal collapsed after the 2018 World Cup winner underwent his medical with the Premier League side.

Fekir will only have 18 months left to run on his current Lyon deal next month and Chelsea believe they can sign the 25-year-old for less than the fee Liverpool agreed.

The Lyon captain has struggled to rediscover his best form this season, only managing four goals in 12 league appearances.

Fekir has reserved his best appearances in the Champions League, where has played a direct hand in five goals in as many appearances in the competition.
