Solskjaer makes decision on Henderson's Manchester United future
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has decided David de Gea will remain Manchester United's No.1 goalkeeper for next season, claims The Daily Star.
De Gea's position as United's top shot-stopper has come under serious threat this season following the performances of loan star Dean Henderson.
The England Under-21 international has enjoyed another sublime campaign on loan at Sheffield United and dreams of usurping De Gea as United's main goalkeeper.
Henderson has been tipped as England's future No.1 and De Gea's inconsistent form has led to suggestions the talented 23-year-old could seriously challenge at Old Trafford next season.
However, Solskjaer has opted to place his faith in De Gea, who has arguably been United's best player in the post Sir Alex Ferguson era.
De Gea became one of United's best paid players of all-time in September last year after penning a moutwatering £375,000-a-week deal after years of speculation about his future.
The 29-year-old was once considered the best goalkeeper in the world but has been a shadow of his former self since enduring a difficult 2018 World Cup.
In fact, De Gea has made more errors leading to an opposition shot in the Premier League this season (4) than all 11 defenders used by United in the competition (3).
Before it was De Gea constantly bailing out United's defence but now it is the other way round.
Henderson, meanwhile, ranks second in the Premier League for clean sheets this season (10), two more than De Gea.
United are still confident Henderson will go on to replace De Gea in the future but the youngster will have to be patient and endure more loan spells if he wants to achieve his dream.
