Bellerin’s agent pours cold water on Manchester United talk

The agent of Hector Bellerin has denied suggestions Manchester United are trying to sign the Arsenal defender.

Bellerin has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal at the end of the season after falling out with supporters at the club.

Juventus were first interested in signing the 23-year-old but United have since leapfrogged their Italian counterparts in the race for his signature.

Arsene Wenger’s side are hoping to raise at least £50m from his sale to fund investment in the squad elsewhere, but Bellerin’s agent insists no team has enquired for his client.

“There’s no contact for Bellerin, no-one has sought me out,” Albert Botines told Radio CRC, via the London Evening Standard.

“He’s happy, he’s recently renewed and he’s playing consistently. It’s true that every player always wants to grow, but right now it’s difficult [to see him leaving].

“If the Azzurri were interested in some of my clients I would listen, because – just like Juventus – Napoli are not only a great team in Italy but also now in Europe.”

Jose Mourinho will look to sign another right-back in the summer with an eye on identifying Antonio Valencia’s long-term successor.

Since August 2014, no defender has completed more dribbles than Bellerin (161) in the Premier League.
