Roma have opening €30m bid for Real Madrid forward rejected
Roma have turned their attention to Real Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez but failed with an opening €30m (£26.9m) offer, reports Radio Marca, via Football Italia.
The Serie A giants have ended their pursuit of Riyad Mahrez after failing to convince Leicester to lower their £50m valuation and are now trying to prize Vazquez away from the European champions.
Vazquez is currently below Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in the pecking order for a starting berth in attack, while Marco Asensio is also likely to be given the nod when Zinedine Zidane rotates.
With Madrid still interested in signing Monaco superstar Kylian Mbappe, the 26-year-old will struggle for regular game time this season and Roma are hopeful of prizing him away from the Spanish giants.
Of players that registered at least five assists in La Liga last season, only two players did so more frequently than Vazquez (1 every 198 minutes of action).
