Liverpool to battle Leeds for Argentine playmaker

Liverpool are prepared to battle Leeds for the signing of Udinese's creative star Rodrigo De Paul, reports The Sun via The Daily Mirror.

De Paul was heavily linked with a move to Leeds over the summer, but a move failed to materialise as Udinese managed to ward off interest in their prized asset.

The Whites are again being linked with a move for the Argentine as head coach Marcelo Bielsa looks to bring in another attacking midfielder.

However, Leeds face competition from Liverpool in the race to land the 26-year-old, who has created 37 goalscoring chances in Serie A this season, the second best return in 2020/21.

While Liverpool need reinforcements at the back, with the Reds ravaged by injury in defence, head coach Jurgen Klopp is looking to add some spark to the attack with the defending champions scoring just once in their last three league outings.

Leeds had hoped to wait until the end of the season before reviving their interest in De Paul, but news of Liverpool considering a move for the Argentina international could see them make their move this month.

Inter have also been linked with a move for De Paul, but it's reported that the player favours a move to England.
