Hart admits it was easy to leave City

Joe Hart has revealed it was an easy decision to leave Manchester City once he realised there was no room for him at the club under Pep Guardiola.

The England international dropped down the pecking order at City following Guardiola’s arrival in the summer before making the shock loan switch to Serie A side Torino.

Hart, 29, made a calamitous error on his debut for the Italian side that led to one of Atalanta’s two goals and he insists he is very proud to play for Torino despite the fact they finished 12th last season.

“I am not thinking too long term about my future. I had a very public situation at Manchester City, which was awkward,” The Daily Mail quote Hart as saying. “I love to play football and it looked like my options were limited.

“People say it’s a smaller club but it is a club with great history in a great league and they gave me an opportunity for the regular football that I desire.

“It was an easy decision for me. Here I am and I am very proud to make the move.”

Hart made the move to Italy having kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the last five Premier League seasons (60).
