Newly promoted Bundesliga side Stuttgart want to reinforce their midfield options with the signature of highly rated Argentine midfielder Santiago Ascacibar, reports news outlet Ambito, via Get German Football.
Ascacibar is currently plying his trade for Estudiantes in the Argentine Primera Division but has regularly been linked with a move to one of Europe’s top leagues in the last 12 months.
The 20-year-old defensive midfielder is now on the radar of Stuttgart and could join the newly promoted Bundesliga side in a deal worth just €7m (£6.4m).
Stuttgart are reportedly even drafting a five-year deal for the underage Argentina international and hope he can bring defensive qualities in front of the defence that will help re-establish the club as a top-flight side again.
In the last two Argentine Primera Division seasons, Ascacibar has completed the most tackles and interceptions combined (268).
