Stoke line up move for Chelsea man

Stoke are considering a surprise move for Chelsea defender John Terry at the end of the season, according to the Sun on Sunday.

Terry is out of contract at the end of the campaign with the Blues confirming that the club captain will depart Stamford Bridge once his current deal comes to an end.

Bournemouth and West Brom have both been heavily linked with a move for the experienced defender, though could now face competition for his signature from Stoke.

The 36-year-old also has interest from abroad, with a host of offers coming in from MLS and the Chinese Super League, though it’s thought Terry is eager to stay in England.

On possible links with a move for Terry, Potters boss Mark Hughes said: “John’s got to move somewhere, he’s someone I know very well but I think there would be a lot of interest in him.

“Whether or not we’d be able to present anything to John that would make him think, I don’t know, I haven’t had that conversation.

"But we spoke briefly and had a word after the Chelsea game here this year and had a laugh and a joke about things about where his future lies.

"From what I’ve seen of him and when he’s been involved, you’re not just getting John Terry the player, you’re getting John Terry the leader and the individual as well.

"He’s got a lot of experience that he can impart so someone will benefit from that."
