City hoping to wrap up signing of young German star

Manchester City are hoping to wrap up the signing of Leroy Sane before their pre-season trip to China following Germany’s Euro 2016 exit, reports Manchester Evening News.

The 20-year-old has been strongly linked with a host of teams across Europe after breaking onto the scene in 2013 and averaged the fifth most successful dribbles per game (2.8) in the Bundesliga last season.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich were both rumoured to be keeping tabs on Sane, but it looks as though City have won the race to sign the youngster.

He will set City back a reported £40m having tracked the Germany international since the turn of the year.

Should he, as expected, move to the Etihad Stadium, Sane would become the club’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito.

Sane’s time at Schalke was expected to end this summer after the Bundesliga side secured the services of Breel Embolo from FC Basel.
