Which striker topped the rankings in the Europa League this week?
There were resounding victories and impressive individual displays for the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal, Napoli and Molde in the Europa League this week, but no player was able to better the feats of Sporting Lisbon striker Fredy Montero (9.93 WhoScored rating).
Not even Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored a hat-trick in Dortmund’s 3-1 win away to Qäbälä, could garner a higher WhoScored rating (9.35). Instead, it was Montero that performed the best in Sporting’s 5-1 rout over Albania side Skenderbeu.
Montero scored from the spot and registered one assist in just Sporting’s first win of the campaign to close the gap between the top two in Group H. The former Colombia international may have left the field disappointed not to have scored more goals having had seven shots on goal (four on target), which was three more than the entire Skenderbeu team combined.
Moreover, no player successfully completed more dribbles than the 28-year-old (3) and only two teammates created more chances than the Sporting frontman (2).
