Liverpool frontrunners for Barca star

Liverpool have emerged as favourites to sign Barcelona winger Pedro after the 27-year-old hinted at leaving the Nou Camp this summer.

The Spain international’s exit has been expected following the arrival of Luis Suarez and is now thought to be imminent after the signing of Arda Tura on Monday night.

Bookmakers have since installed Liverpool as favourites to land the speed merchant following comments made to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

"It is evident that my situation at Barcelona is a delicate one," he said. "Now we have to work out what is best for everyone. Right now I am on vacation, so I will talk about my future later."

Luis Enrique’s side are thought to have slapped a €20m (£14.1m) price tag on the wingers head and it has been suggested Liverpool see Pedro as an ideal replacement for Raheem Sterling.

Pedro rose through the club's famous La Masia academy before bursting onto the scene in the 2008/09 campaign, where he became the first player in Barcelona’s history to score in six official competitions in one year.

The 27-year-old has won more than a dozen major honours since breaking into the first team seven years ago, but has always played second fiddle to numerous high profile players that have whisked through the Nou Camp.
