Gomes snubs West Ham for Everton

Andre Gomes has turned down the chance to join West Ham in order to make his loan switch permanent at Everton, reports The Daily Mirror.

The Portugal international spent last season on loan at Everton after being deemed surplus to requirements at Barcelona.

Gomes, who has previously been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, has no future at Barcelona and has emerged as a top transfer target for West Ham.

The Hammers have even bid in excess of £20m to sign Gomes from Barcelona but the 25-year-old has snubbed Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Gomes wants to continue at Everton and Marco Silva’s side are now expected to wrap up a £20m deal for the Barcelona outcast.

The Portuguese midfielder made 27 appearances in the Premier League last season but only scored one goal and registered one assist.

While interest in the Barcelona outcast is understandable, there is still room for improvement after garnering a WhoScored rating of just 6.65 in the league.
