Chelsea star open to Ligue 1 move

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has refused to rule out a move to France in the future as further doubt clouds his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

The Spain international has admitted he tried everything he could to leave Chelsea and return to Atletico Madrid last summer and it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte’s side will keep their star striker beyond the end of the season.

Costa would not be short of suitors should he be available for transfer and the 28-year-old has now opened the door to a potential move to Ligue 1.

“Marseille have constructed a nice project. PSG, we know, are respected in Europe,” Costa mulled with Telefoot, via Get French Football. “Monaco also have a wonderful project and have some great players. Ligue 1 is developing.

“I am very happy at Chelsea but anything can happen in football. If I need to make a change, France is a country where I have never played. So why not.”

Only Romelu Lukaku (21), Harry Kane (19) and Alexis Sanchez (18) have scored more goals in the Premier League this season than Costa (17), whose form in front of goal has been crucial to Chelsea’s title charge.
