Manchester United ace on verge of agreeing new deal

Ander Herrera is set to end any uncertainty about his Manchester United future and sign a new contract with the Premier League giants, claims The Daily Mail.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and former club Athletic Club want to re-sign the midfielder.

Herrera has re-established himself as a key player at United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho before Christmas.

The former Spain international is settled in Manchester and his preference has always been to earn a new contract with United.

It has now emerged that Herrera is set to do exactly that. The Spaniard is set to follow in the footsteps of Anthony Martial and Ashley Young by extending his stay at Old Trafford.

United have been in discussions with Herrera’s representatives about a new contract for the last few months and have now made a breakthrough in talks.

Herrera has started seven of Solskjaer’s 10 matches in charge of United and has formed a good partnership with Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba in midfield.

He has even played a direct hand in three goals in that time, more than in his 12 appearances under Mourinho this season (two).
