Newcastle eye move for Wolves ace

 

Newcastle are tracking Wolves defender Conor Coady after his impressive display against Manchester City in Tuesday’s League Cup clash, reports The Sun.

 

Coady, who came through the Liverpool academy before joining Huddersfield on a full-time basis in 2014, has spent the last two years with Wolves and turned in a thoroughly impressive performance against City in midweek.

 

Wolves head coach Nuno Santos has transformed Coady from a defensive midfielder into a centre-back this season and the 24-year-old has flourished for the Championship leaders.

 

Coady, who missed a spot kick in the penalty shootout defeat against City, only signed a new four-year deal with Wolves in September and is reportedly valued at £7m.

 

Newcastle are not the only Premier League side impressed with his performance against City, with West Brom also admirers.

Both teams are expected to make a January move for the former England U20 international, but Wolves would be reluctant to sell given they are pushing for promotion.

 

Coady has started 12 of Wolves’ 13 Championship matches this season and has the best pass success rate at the club (88.4%).
