Harry Kane has warned Tottenham his future at the club hinges entirely on the progress made by the club.
The 26-year-old has developed into one of the best strikers in the world in recent years but has no silverware to show for all his goals.
Kane has spent his entire career at Tottenham but has told online fans he is desperate to win trophies and will not stay at the club for the sake of it.
"I'll love Spurs and always will love Spurs but it's one of those things," Kane said in an Instagram Live Q&A with former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp, via The Daily Telegraph.
"I've always said if I don't feel we are progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I'm not one to stay there for a sake of it.
"I'm an ambitious man, I want to improve, get better and want to become one of the top, top players. It all depends on what happens to the team and how we progress as a team.
"It's not a definite that I'll stay there forever but it's not a no either."
Kane has not featured for Tottenham since New Year's Day after suffering a serious hamstring injury in a 1-0 defeat to Southampton.
Real Madrid and Manchester United have previously been linked with a move for the England captain and his latest comments will no doubt have pricked ears around Europe.
Prior to injury, Kane had scored 11 goals in 20 league matches and six goals in five Champions League outings.
