Borussia Mönchengladbach are willing to make an improved club-transfer record €18m (£15.3m) bid for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, according to German newspaper Bild, via Get Germany Football.
Christensen, 20, spent last season on loan with the Bundesliga side and they have already had a £14m offer to bring the Denmark international to the club on a permanent basis rejected this summer.
Chelsea are reportedly holding out for at least €22m (18.6m) for the central defender but Gladbach are poised to table an offer which would break the £15m they paid Basel to sign Granit Xhaka in 2012.
Christensen played 31 times in the Bundesliga for Gladbach last season and chipped in with three goals from defence. Not only that, but he completed more interceptions than any other teammate (85).
