Stoke are closing in on the signing of Tottenham centre-back Kevin Wimmer for £15m, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Wimmer was in attendance in Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Burnley on Sunday, but is believed to have said his farewells after a match, in which Chris Wood scored late on to secure the Clarets a point.
The Austrian moved to the north London side two years ago from FC Cologne, but after a strong showing in his debut season with Spurs, he looked to have regressed and struggled for game time last term, making only five Premier League appearances.
The arrival of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax also looked to signal that Wimmer’s time at Spurs was drawing to a close and while Crystal Palace and West Brom have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, the Potters have won the race to secure the defender’s services.
Wimmer will now undergo a medical at Stoke on Monday after a fee between both teams was agreed at the weekend, with the defender set to become Mark Hughes’ seventh summer signing.
