Liverpool not interested in Tottenham target

Liverpool are not interested in Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Villa are currently in financial turmoil and need to sell star asset Grealish in order to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Tottenham are leading the chase for the £30m-rated midfielder but reports emerged over the weekend suggesting Liverpool had entered the race for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp is currently on the market for a new creative player in the wake of Liverpool’s failed transfer for Lyon captain Nabil Fekir but the Merseyside outfit are not interested in Grealish.

Villa are hoping to command £30m for the 22-year-old but news Liverpool are not in the running will weaken their bargaining hand in talks with Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have no interest in matching Villa’s valuation and hope to sign Grealish in a deal worth in the region of £20m.

Grealish emerged as one of the best players in the Championship last season and is now keen to take the next step in his career, which means leaving boyhood club Villa.

No player was fouled more times per game than Grealish (3.4) in the Championship last season.
