United line up huge bid for in-form Premier League striker

Manchester United are readying a huge £50m bid for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in January, according to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb.

Lukaku, 22, is currently enjoying the best goalscoring period of his career and became the first Everton player since Bob Latchford in December 1975 to score in seven straight games when he opened the scoring against Norwich on Saturday.

United have only scored 10 goals in their last 12 matches and are desperate need of added fire power to help ease the pressure on Anthony Martial and have seemingly earmarked Lukaku as the striker to do that.

Since the start of the season only Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez (both 16) have played a direct part in more of their team’s goals than Lukaku (14) in the Premier League.
