Tottenham eye summer move for Bayer Leverkusen ace

Tottenham have earmarked Bayer Leverkusen starlet Julian Brandt as a transfer target this summer, claims The Daily Mail.

Mauricio Pochettino has issued Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy an ultimatum about his future in recent weeks and wants backing at the end of the season.

Tottenham last signed a player in January 2018 and have done remarkably well to get to the Champions League final for the first time in their history.

The north London outfit are concerned Christian Eriksen could be prised away by Real Madrid this summer and are drafting a list of potential replacements.

Pochettino’s side have rekindled their interest in Jack Grealish, though their pursuit hinges on whether Aston Villa win the Championship play-off final or not.

Tottenham are now also interested in Germany international Brandt, who is understood to have a release clause of just £21.5m this summer.

Brandt has enjoyed a formidable campaign since Peter Bosz’s arrival before Christmas and has previously been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

Bosz has converted Brandt from a winger into an attacking central midfielder in the last five months and the rewards have been unthinkable.

Only Jadon Sancho (14) and Joshua Kimmich (12) have registered more assists than Brandt in the Bundesliga this season (11), while the 23-year-old has also scored six goals.

Furthermore, Brandt has provided more key passes than any other player in the Bundesliga this term (85).
