Djilobodji hoping to be a success at Chelsea

Papy Djilobodji has expressed his delight at moving to Premier League champions Chelsea and he hopes to succeed at Stamford Bridge.

The Senegal international signed for the west London side on deadline day from French side Nantes on the back of an impressive campaign for the Ligue 1 team, where he gained a WhoScored rating of 7.31.

Djilobodji, 26, admitted his pleasure in moving to the Blues, telling the club’s official website: "I am really happy to be a Chelsea player. I have come here to learn and to go to higher places with the club, and to win trophies as well.

"I’m really happy and I want to show all my qualities and skills not just to the manager and the players, but also to the supporters."

The powerful centre-back was key to Nantes’ 14th-placed finish last season, averaging 8.3 clearances per game, a figure bettered by only three players in France’s top tier.
