Conte named Premier League manager of the month

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been crowned the Premier League manager of the month after a sensational run in October that saw the Blues rise to second in the league.

Conte endured a tough start to life in English football after being made Chelsea’s new manager in the summer following the culmination of his contract with the Italian national team.

Successive defeats against Arsenal and Liverpool left many questioning whether Chelsea would even return to the top four this season but the Blues have been faultless since Conte made a tactical switch to set up in the team in a 3-4-3 system.

Since then, Chelsea have won five games in a row, including all four in October, and did not concede a single goal in that time. They are currently on their best run of clean sheets in a single league season since 2009.

Conte is the first Chelsea manager to win the Premier League manager of the month award since Rafa Benitez in April 2013. In the month of October, Chelsea were the only team in Europe’s big five leagues that did not concede a single goal.
