Manchester United eye audacious summer swoop for Tottenham star
Manchester United are prepared to treble Christian Eriksen’s current wages if they can prise the creative midfielder away from Tottenham this summer, claims The Daily Mirror.
Eriksen will only have 12 months left to run on his existing Tottenham contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to renew with the club.
Real Madrid have reportedly earmarked the Denmark international as a top transfer target this summer but United are also keen and are monitoring his future closely.
Tottenham are ideally hoping Eriksen will sign a new long-term deal with the club but would certainly rather sell abroad to Madrid than strengthen a direct rival like United if forced to cash-in.
Any side interested in signing Eriksen will also have to hurdle the obstacle of negotiating with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
The 27-year-old is regarded as one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League, illustrated by the fact he has provided 12 assists in the league this season.
In fact, only Chelsea star Eden Hazard has registered as many assists as Eriksen in the Premier League this season.
