Dortmund have £29.2m bid for Mkhitaryan replacement rejected

Borussia Dortmund have failed with a £29.2m bid for Bayer Leverkusen winger Karim Bellarabi as they plan for life without Henrikh Mkhitaryan, reports The Guardian.

Manchester United are set to match Dortmund’s £30m valuation of the Armenia international and Thomas Tuchel’s side have already begun the process of finding a replacement for last season’s highest rated player in the Bundesliga (7.90 rating).

Dortmund may be forced to look elsewhere after their mammoth bid for Bellarabi was rejected and then told by Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller that the Germany international was not for sale at any cost this summer.

“There was an official request from Dortmund [for Bellarabi] a few days ago, but it was instantly rejected,” Voller told Bild, via The Guardian. “To sell Karim is not an option for us at Levkerusen. He is definitely staying, he is not for sale.”

Since August 2013 only Raffael has completed more dribbles in the Bundesliga than Bellarabi (324), furthering his statistically calculated strength of ‘dribbling’.
