Spurs eye up Lille star

Tottenham are believed to be keeping tabs on young Lille attacker Sofiane Boufal.

The 22-year-old has been described as the natural successor to Eden Hazard in France, sentiments echoed by captain Rio Mavuba.

"He reminds me of Eden when he was playing here. It is striking, he likes the ball, even if he plays too much sometimes. But he is young, you have to let him grow," the midfielder said.

Nevertheless, Boufal has impressed already this term, gaining a WhoScored rating of 7.74.

Spurs have been closely monitoring the French market since Paul Mitchell's appointment as head of recruitment last November and exploited his contacts to bring in Clinton N'Jie over the summer.

Now, the London Evening Standard suggests Mauricio Pochettino is keen on securing the services of Boufal.

The north London side are reported to have had a £12m bid for the youngster rejected over the summer, with Lille rightly demanding more for one of their prized assets.

Boasting a WhoScored strength of 'dribbling', it comes as little shock to see that Boufal has completed more successful dribbles (32) than any other player in Ligue 1 this season.
