Everton boss wants Watford midfielder

Everton manager Marco Silva wants to raid former club Watford for midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, claims The Daily Mirror.

Silva has made bolstering his midfield options a top priority at the end of the season with no assurances Everton will make Andre Gomes’ loan switch from Barcelona permanent.

Everton have emerged as unlikely suitors for Lyon starlet Tanguy Ndombele in the last week but Silva is also interested in prising Doucoure away from Watford.

Silva worked with the 25-year-old during his short stint at Vicarage Road and now wants to reunite with the powerful midfielder on Merseyside.

Everton prised Richarlison from Watford in a blockbuster £40m deal in the summer and the Hornets would also demand a high fee for Doucoure.

Watford are in a strong position on Doucoure’s future after the Frenchman signed a new five-year deal at the club at the start of the season.

Since the start of last season, Doucoure has won possession in the middle third more times than any other Premier League player (255).
