West Ham have been served a huge blow with news Andy Carroll will miss the next three months with a fractured foot, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Carroll was heavily linked with a January move to Chelsea at the start of the month but injury has forced Antonio Conte’s side to focus on other targets.
The 29-year-old underwent surgery on Monday to fix a hairline fracture to his foot and will now spend the next three months on the sidelines recovering.
Chelsea were considering a £20m offer and Michy Batshuayi on loan for the remainder of the season in exchange for Carroll but have now ended their interest.
It leaves West Ham even short in attack with doubts over Javier Hernandez, Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew’s future at the club beyond the end of this month.
Carroll has only scored two league goals in 12 matches this season. Of players that have made at least 10 Premier League appearances this season, only three players require fewer minutes per successful aerial duel than Carroll (1 every 10 minutes).
