Chelsea set to be rebuffed in January offers for Premier League striker
Chelsea are set to be frustrated in their pursuit of Callum Wilson this month, The Sunday Mirror claims, with Bournemouth ready to reject any offers for their top scorer.
The Blues have been mooted with an interest in the 26-year-old for some time, and the Cherries capture of former Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke appeared to have paved the way for Wilson’s departure.
However, the report claims that Bournemouth are not willing to entertain offers for the England international in the January window.
That, in part, is due to the club allowing Jermain Defoe to join Rangers, and also due to the fact that Eddie Howe has confirmed new signing Solanke won’t be fit for selection until February having not featured all season.
Any sale of Wilson would still leave the south coast side short of options up front as a result, and Bournemouth aren’t in a position whereby they need to make funds available to strengthen the squad.
The striker has scored nine league goals this season and registered a further five assists, equating to a direct hand in 45 per cent of the Cherries goal haul.
