Real Madrid eye cut-price January move for Eriksen

Real Madrid plan to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham in January, claim MARCA.

Eriksen has entered the final 12 months of his current Tottenham deal and is not planning to renew with the Premier League outfit.

The Denmark international wanted to leave Tottenham in the summer but neither Real Madrid nor Manchester United firmed up their interest with bids.

Tottenham will look to offload Eriksen in the January transfer window to avoid losing the 27-year-old for nothing at the end of the season.

Eriksen will be free to agree terms on a Bosman transfer with foreign clubs at the start of next year but Madrid plan to accelerate his move away.

Despite sitting top of LaLiga, Zinedine Zidane is under huge pressure as Madrid head coach following a turbulent start to the season.

Madrid have failed to win their opening two Champions League group games and Jose Mourinho is waiting in the wings to return to the club.

Zidane plans to bolster his midfield options for the second half of the season by signing Eriksen from Tottenham in a cut-price deal.

Eriksen has failed to rediscover his best form for Tottenham after missing out on a move away in the summer.

The Tottenham creator has only played a direct hand in two goals in eight league appearances this season and has a WhoScored rating of just 6.72.
