Porto interested in United outcast

Porto have expressed an interest in signing Manchester United winger Memphis Depay on loan for the remainder of the season, reports Portuguese outlet A Bola, via Football Oranje.

Memphis, 23, is widely expected to leave Old Trafford during the January transfer window after making no impression on new manager Jose Mourinho this season.

The Netherlands international has been heavily linked with a move to Everton but they could now face competition from Portuguese giants Porto, who are interested in a short-term deal that could suit all parties.

Not only would Memphis have a greater chance of regular first-team football with Porto, but a solid second half to the campaign could alert the attention of more clubs before sealing a permanent deal away from United next summer.

Of players to have started in at least 15 matches in the last two Premier League campaigns, Memphis has been dispossessed more frequently than any other player (every 21 mins).
