Liverpool deny approach for three-time European cup winner

Liverpool have denied reports claiming they have sounded out the possibility of former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti taking over from Brendan Rodgers at the club.

According to The Daily Mail, there are some people at the club who are fully behind Rodgers, but they are just exploring their options if he cannot get Liverpool out of their current funk.

However, Liverpool have since denied they have spoken to Ancelotti, with the Press Association reporting the club have "vehemently dismissed the claims”.

The 56-year-old is a three-time Champions League winner having twice led AC Milan to the summit of European football, as well as Real Madrid two years ago.

The former Chelsea manager was linked with Rodgers' post over the summer but instead decided to take a break from management after being sacked by Madrid at the end of last season.

Liverpool have failed to win any of their last five matches in all competitions and already look unlikely to finish in the top four. In fact, only Arsenal (2.5%) have a worse conversion rate than Liverpool in the Premier League thus far (4.7%)
