Manchester United and Manchester City could miss out on Lyon ace

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed Manchester City and Manchester United are pursuing Tanguy Ndombele but he would prefer to sell the midfielder to Juventus.

City were interested in signing Ndombele last summer and could rekindle their interest in the 22-year-old as Pep Guardiola plans for life after Fernandinho.

United could be forced to sign at least two central midfielders this summer with Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba expected to leave.

Lyon are bracing themselves for interest in captain Nabil Fekir and Ndombele this summer, with both free to leave if suitable offers are submitted.

The French side are reportedly holding out for €100m (£86.3m) for Ndombele but Aulas has revealed he would prefer to deal with Juventus than both Manchester clubs.

“Are Juventus after Ndombele? Yes it’s true,” The Independent quote Aulas as saying. “But PSG are also there. Manchester United and City too.

“Honestly, I would like to see Ndombele at Juventus with [Miralem] Pjanic, a player that broke out at Lyon and a player I am still very attached to. We will see what happens.”

Ndombele has made 30 league appearances and registered six assists in that time, equalling his best return in a single league campaign.

Of player to have attempted at least 100 dribbles in Ligue 1 since the start of last season, only one player has a better dribble success rate than Ndombele (75.4%).
