Manchester United have announced Andreas Pereira has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with an option to a further 12 months.
Pereira’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of next season after United triggered a one-year extension in March.
The 23-year-old is highly rated at Old Trafford but has so far struggled to make a real impact in the first-team.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to give Pereira more opportunities next season, which explains why Pereira is happy to pledge his long-term future to the club.
“I have spent so long in Manchester that I now regard the city and the club as my home and I’m extremely happy to continue my career here,” he told the club’s official website.
“The manager has shown great faith in me and I can’t wait to get this campaign started under him. We know that we all have to work hard and that started on day one of pre-season.
“I will be doing everything I can to help us perform the way we need to, this season and beyond. I also want to thank my family for the trust they have in me and God for the opportunity he has given me.”
Pereira made 15 Premier League appearances last season, though nine of those came as a substitute.
The Brazil international played a direct hand in two goals in that time and both came in a 3-2 win over Southampton in March, including a tremendous long range hit.
However, of United players that started at least five Premier League games last term, Pereira garnered the lowest WhoScored rating (6.29).
